Holidays and Notice

Au pairs are entitled to one week's paid leave for every six months worked. If you decide to go on holiday and are not taking the au pair with you, they must be paid during your absence and given enough money to provide for food.  If the placement is for a shorter time, holiday is calculated pro-rata.

The family cannot insist that tha au pair takes holiday to coincide with their own, although this often works out by mutual agreement.

Should there be a good reason to ask your au pair to leave, two weeks notice should be given. If there has been a misdemeanour and it is not acceptable for the au pair to continue to stay in your house, the agency will advise how best to handle the situation.

Mother's helps notice period will be determined by the contract of employment.  We can issue you with a sample contract.

Further advice on these matters is available from the Agency.
