Pocket Money and Pay

For Au Pairs we suggest pocket money allowances as follows:

£65 minimum for 25 hours per week

£75 minimum for 30 hours per week

£85 minimum for 35 hours per week

If you live in London, the weekly pay should ideally be £5 more per week.

Some families choose to give additional benefits, such as help with language tuition, use of a car or travel pass.  During school holidays, if additional hours are required, additional pocket money should be given.  The payment can depend on the level of responsibility given to the au pair. Other possible benefits are a bonus at the end of the promised stay or a return fare home once during the au pair's stay.

It is recognised that these are only guidelines and that the situation differs from family to family.

Individual needs can be discussed when you register with the agency and we aim to match these with a suitable au pair.

For Mother's Helps the salary is dependent on the experience of the candidate and the requirements of the family and whether the mother's help is live-in or live-out.  The agency will advise on realistic remuneration. As a minimum,  you can expect to pay £150 per week for someone with one year's experience, working 40 hours per week and living in.  For live-out help for 40 hours per week, you might expect to pay a minimum of £250 per week.

Mother's helps must be provided with a contract of employment.  The agency can advise, if necessary.  They will be subject to tax and national insurance.  PAYE services are offered by Nanny Tax www.nannytax.co.uk, should a family require help with this.
